Rev. Camilo R. Richards, Jr. ("Pastor Cam")

Senior Pastor

Pastor Cam is a native of Washington, D.C. and currently resides in Waxhaw, NC with his family.  He is both a loving husband and proud father.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Maryland; and he is currently pursuing Master’s studies at the Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC.

In 1993, Pastor Cam accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Mount Jezreel Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Dr. Harold E. Trammell.  There he was active in several ministries, taught in the church’s Koinonia Bible Institute, facilitated the marriage ministry with his wife Dena, and was ordained a deacon in February 1999.  He served faithfully as a deacon until accepting God’s call to the preaching ministry in September 2001.  Pastor Cam preached his initial sermon on February 27, 2002.  He was ordained at Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church on December 12, 2004 under the pastorate of the Reverend Eldridge Spearman.

In the summer of 2007, the Lord led Pastor Cam to relocate his family to the Charlotte, NC area where he joined the University Park Baptist Church under the pastorate of Bishop Claude R. Alexander, Jr.  While at “The Park”, he taught in the church’s Kingdom Life Institute and chaired the Ministers’ Leadership Team.  He was instrumental in the development and implementation of a cohort based training program for ministers in training.  In 2015, Reverend Richards united with Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC where he served on the Welcome Team and in a Men’s eGroup.

Since receiving the call to pastor the Nicey Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Cam is excited about what the Lord is already doing in this new phase of ministry. More than any achievements or honors bestowed upon him, he is humbled by the fact that by grace alone he is a child of the Most High God, and that his name is recorded in Lamb’s Book of Life.
